In March 2004
the UK Hydrographic Office, Blom ASA, and Airborne
Hydrography AB, established Admiralty Coastal Surveys to
provide survey services internationally for the coastal
zone and other shallow
water environments using Hawk Eye II system. In May 2007 Blom ASA, Norway,
acquired the UK Hydrographic office shares and become the majority owner
in the company. The company name were changed to Blom Environmental
and Coastal Surveys AB (BECS).
Blom ASA,
headquartered in Oslo, Norway, is largest company within
Europe for airborne collection of geographic
referenced information. Their
products are divided into the business areas Aerial
Photography, Laser scanning, Mapping and modeling,
Databases, Pictometry and Database
applications. The group consists of 13 business
unit including about 750 employees around Europe.
Blom
Environmental and Coastal Surveys AB is organized under
Blom Aerofilms UK. BECS operates internationally, catering for a broad
range of customers with a wide range of applications including:
- hydrographic charting of the
coastal zone, offshore shallows and reefs and areas
where conventional methods would prove either
impossible or dangerous
- coastal zone mapping for
environmental assessment and monitoring, beach
replenishment studies, erosion studies and coastal
defence
- charting and mapping for
engineering works, offshore renewable energy projects,
submarine cable and pipeline installations
- hydrographic surveys for the port and harbour industry, approach and conservancy surveys, dredging and aggregates
The close ties between AHAB and BECS have shown very
beneficial for the technology and the Hawk Eye II applications development.

TopEye AB, part of Blom Sweden, is located in Gothenburg, has become a leading mapping and GIS
company within the low altitude corridor mapping applications within the European market.
We coordinate our production, development and marketing with our colleagues in the
Blom Group - which gives us unique resources.

TopEye AB has been active in topographical laser scanning since 1993 and digital image
solution was developed during 1999. TopEye have developed and refined LiDAR and Digital
image technology as well as procedures for more than 10 years.
