With a range accuracy
of less than 2 cm (1 sigma) up to 500 m Dragon Eye detects all the fine target details
in the terrain. The range resolution has been set to 0.5 cm.

The received waveform are processed by advanced digital signal processing algorithms in
real time. DragonEye have a real time caclulation capacity of 70 Gigaflops
per second allowing advanced signal processing calculations to be performed before data is stored
to hard drives.

The palmer scanner positions the laser pulses in an ellipsoid scan pattern under
the aircraft in a way that all ground objects are illuminated from two sides.
The palmer scanner method minimizes shadow effects that always are received from
high objects on ground. The Palmer scanner method has excellent vegetation
penetration allowing accurate bare earth models or simplifies the work to create ortho
rectified images. The angle of incident is close to constant through the whole scan and
varies only between 14 and 20 degrees which produce more consistent data.
Finally the Palmer Scanner is a very robust design with few moving parts.

DragonEye do not need to wait for
capturing the sent pulse before sending the next. This allows surveying without limiting the pulse
repetition frequency as a function of survey altitude.
|
 |
|
|
|
Dragon Eye laser pulse repetition frequency exceeds 300 KHz, which allows
the absolute highest density coverage. Even at high survey speeds, coverage well
above 25 soundings per square meter are reached in low altitude corridor mapping applications.

System weight and system power consumption is important parameters for all airborne equipment.
Dragon Eye system weight of 25 kg and power consumption of 15 Amp (on 28 VDC supply) are
very competitive values.
