Dragon Eye, by Airborne Hydrography AB, Sweden, is a state of the art Airborne
Topographic Laser Survey System for elevation data collection
Examples of Dragon Eye features are
- Rapid data collection – Pulse
repetition frequency > 300 KHz.
- Real time data processing – The
DragonEye system includes very powerful digital signal
processing in real time, before the data is stored.
- Soft “hardware” improvements – The
DragonEye utilizes the latest Field Programmable Gate
Arrays, such that improvements of the processing can be made
in VHDL without any changes in physical hardware.
- High accuracy – LiDAR measurements
< 2 cm rms.
- Multiple pulse in the air
(optional) – The sensor does not need to receive the
reflected LIDAR pulse before the next is sent.
- Reflectance – The energy in each
outgoing LiDAR pulse and the responses are continuously
measured and stored.
- High sensitivity – The DragonEye
cover a large Dynamic range, from high reflectivity returns
to very low reflectivity returns.
- Waveforms – Pulse width, pulse
height and pulse position are calculated in real time.
Number of return pulses stored can be selected according to
the operator’s request. Advanced real time signal processing
algorithms allows further improvement of sensitivity and
accuracy. Alternatively the full waveform can be stored
(optional).
- Position Navigation System –
accurate position navigation with european export
restrictions.
- The Palmer scanner - The Palmer
scanner principle illuminates objects from different angles
and hence minimises shadowed areas in the LiDAR dataset.
This opens up for true ortho-photo production. The Palmer
scanner principle can also be used for very accurate
alignment of Line of sight and for advanced post processing
procedures.
- Compact system with low weight and
low power consumption.
- Easy installation in aircraft.
